The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Director of Ticket Sales and Service to support the Athletics Ticket Office.
Under the direction of the Associate Athletics Director for Ticket Sales and Operations, the Director of Ticket Sales and Service will be responsible for and oversee all inbound and outbound ticketing sales and service efforts for Virginia Athletics.
Essential Job Functions: 1. Supervision of all Ticket Sales Associates, Ticket Services Associates, and the call center for inbound and outbound ticket sales and service. Responsible for renewing, selling, and service of season tickets, partial plans, group tickets and other ticket products; will focus on season ticket retention, new season ticket acquisition, group ticket sales, and customer service by leading staff in contacting current and past customers and cold-calling new sales leads to generate sales; lead staff in contacting area businesses and individuals via phone, in-person appointments, social media and networking events; lead staff in working home games, performing various ticket sale and service duties throughout the game; lead staff in building relationships to provide repeat business and excellent customer service; achieve and exceed weekly, monthly and annual sales goals established by management; lead staff to act proactively to create opportunities for new business with existing customers; provide superior customer service to clients throughout the year; miscellaneous duties as assigned by Associate Athletics Director for Ticket Sales and Operations.
2. Serves as the primary fiscal administrator, overseeing all daily accounting, depositing and reconciliation; will work with athletics business operations and members of the university business community, as well as various payment vendors. Responsible for recording, tracking and reporting tickets sales revenue, preparing revenue deposits, and preparing refunds; performing various payments to accounts and performing audits to maintain quality control.
3. Works closely with the Virginia Athletics Foundation to assist with donor relations and development in regards to benefits and stewardship.
4. Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University-related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletics Department efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting, when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all supervisory areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
5. Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Ticket Sales.
Required qualifications include: a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of sales experience.
Ability to independently reason, analyze and organize information in order to make substantive and sometimes complex decisions reaching reasonable conclusions within the scope of authority.
Ability to work independently assessing needs, comprehending potential issues and developing strategy to problem solve and address issue.
Ability to demonstrate independent judgment and discretion with regard to interpersonal relationships.

Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and social media.
Preferred qualifications include: 4+ years of sales experience; experience working within the Financial, Athletics, or Ticketing industries; supervisory experience; experience in sales management, sales campaigns, and retention campaigns; knowledge of NCAA and ACC rules and regulations; knowledge of database (Oracle) and ticketing system (Paciolan) programs.
