This position is to assist the Box Office Supervisor in the planning, directing and supervision of the box office operations at the Sacramento Convention Center Complex. General supervision is provided by the Box Office Supervisor. Responsibilities include direct and indirect supervision of box office staff.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: - Assist in the planning, organizing, and directing of the box office operation at the Sacramento Convention Center Complex. - Coordinate with promoters and licensees the scaling and selling of tickets for the facilities. - Solicit group ticket sales with group organizations such as social, business, professional and business clubs. - Resolve complaints and public dissatisfaction resulting from ticket sales and box office operations. - Compose correspondence, prepare written and financial reports and supervise and perform record keeping duties relevant to the box office operations. - Supervise preparation of full charge accounting for tickets and cash, including daily, monthly and annual financial statements. - Assist in the coordination of advertising and publicity arrangements with promoters. - Review or assist in the review of contracts, expenses, receipts, deposits, and other financial arrangements prior to settlement after each performance. - May complete financial arrangements with licensees and dispense funds at the completion of the performance. - Supervise and train subordinate personnel. - Other related duties may also be performed; not all duties listed may necessarily be performed by each individual holding this classification.

Experience and Education:
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
One year of experience in a lead capacity in the box office operations of a public events facility.
College level courses in accounting or bookkeeping.

About City of Sacramento Convention Center Complex
The Sacramento Convention Center Complex is a component of the City of Sacramento's Convention and Cultural Services Department. Within the Complex are a Performing Arts Theater; a multi-purpose Auditorium; and a full service Convention and meeting facility.
The 2,422-seat Community Center Theater has been a popular venue for audiences and presenters alike since its opening in 1974. The Theater is currently home to local Performing Art companies such as Broadway Sacramento, the Sacramento Ballet, the Sacramento Opera, the Sacramento Philharmonic, and the Sacramento Speaker Series.
Registered as a historic landmark, the Memorial Auditorium is a true multi-use venue. There are four seating levels in the Auditorium: sloped main floor, dress circle and two balconies, with a seating capacity totaling 3,849. In addition to the main house, the Auditorium includes the Memorial Hall and the Jean Runyon Little Theater (272 seats).
The Convention Center provides 137,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, 31 meeting rooms, an elegant 24,000-square-foot ballroom, and two separate 10,000-square-foot registration/pre-function areas. Events include citywide conventions, conferences,... tradeshows, consumer shows, meetings, entertainment, gala banquets, food functions, and graduations.
All three venues will undergo substantial renovations between June of 2018 and July 2021.
