Under the direct supervision of the Civic Center Superintendent, the responsibilities of the Production/Technical Specialist includes, but is not limited to, performance set up, sound, lighting, video, show rigging, and performance load out for events at the Verizon Center and Vetter Stone Amphitheater. This position will help train and oversee the contracted labor working as the technical crew.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Interacts with, and regularly assists event staff with technical planning and budgeting.
Provides verbal and written estimates.
Conducts pre-event meetings to identify client's technical requirements and expectations.
Monitors facilities and equipment used for events, and ensures that problems are addressed in a timely manner.
Oversees and conducts minor maintenance/repair of tools and equipment.
Enforces rules/regulations concerning use of facility and ensures adherence to contractual terms.
Reviews concert riders and rigging plots for conformance with house rigging plan.
On event dates, serves as the facility representative for all on-stage work and production-related activities, including equipment load in, set up, performance, and load out.
Ensures proper allocation of equipment, tools, supplies and materials in order to complete assigned work.
Provides training, instruction, guidance and oversight of all contracted labor working as technical crew members.
Supervises installation, testing and operation of AV equipment for meetings, conferences, and entertainment events.
Advises the technical crew of clients' concerns, and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
Sets priorities and directs contracted labor in the planning and installation of production equipment.
Maintains technical specifications manuals to be sent to potential users, including space dimensions, equipment list, sound and lighting plots, and other facility usage information that is critical to proper event production.
Performs physical demands and work environment requirements for this position.
Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours, and outside of regular hours as necessary.
Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Performs other functions as assigned or apparent
An Associate's degree in Electronics, Radio/Television, or a related field; and (2) years of audio visual, lighting, sound, and rigging operations in a medium to large multi-use arena or convention and sports complex and professional event production environment.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must be available to work abbreviated normal office hours, plus night and weekend hours. Required to work event preparation, presentation, and move out periods. Continuous hours of work may be varied and long.
Must possess a valid license and be able to drive in the State of Minnesota.
Must successfully complete a physical examination, drug testing, and background check.
Must possess a working telephone number to be utilized by building management personnel for contact purposes.
Must comply with City of Mankato and Civic Center policies and procedures.
Must comply with data practices policies and standards relative to not public data. Any access to not public data should be strictly limited to accessing the data that are necessary to fulfill the employment responsibility.
