Job Description Manage all day-to-day back of house operations. Oversee the planning and successful implementation of all technical and managerial event advancement as well as coordinate other interfacing internal department activities such as EVS, Technical Services and Hotel Maintenance. Oversee CAD operations as it relates to Conventions. Direct oversight includes set-ups and strikes of arena equipment, employee scheduling and performance, related budgeting, billing and invoicing, electrical and audio/visual and other arena physical plant assets and maintenance. Plans and coordinates events, works with personnel at all levels, directs all aspects of event production and performances. Provides overall administrative planning, direction, and policies for facility operations to insure the highest quality service program for rebooking events. Maintains cost effective program by controlling the operation and annual/ events: to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts International policies, practices and procedures. Oversees the scheduling and manages all Operations staff (Operations Manager(s), Operations Supervisors, Conversion Supervisors, A/V Supervisors, Riggers, Change-over Techs, event Electricians & Stagehands). Holds weekly operations meetings with operations staff, EVS, and other related. departments to review and advance upcoming events, their requirements and their staffing levels. Coordinates operational aspects of conventions and trade shows with sales department, convention services, banquet, and casino related events. Prepares annual operation budgets and ensures these budgets are met; including timely capital expenditure submittals and successful project oversight upon approval. Creates, maintains and organizes event related folders and documents in both electronic and paper. Coordinates with property maintenance in regards to repairs and maintenance to facilities and equipment. Coordinates with hotel environmental services in regards to custodial maintenance. Reviews and approves with event budget all costs related to event cleanup. Submits and approves all requests for materials, equipment and supplies. Enforce fire and safety codes, stressing safety first. Provides, and at times, designs technical aspects of events and related information for advancement of events with promoters, producers, and production companies. Provides cost estimates for all events, including conventions, trade shows, casino functions and submits final invoices. Documents time sheets in compliance with MGM policies and provides accurate labor costing information for event settlements. Hires, reviews and evaluates all subordinates. Maintains inventory control on all equipment and maintenance. Prepares other MGM property locations for events requiring seating, staging, and other related operational aspects. Designs all types of event layouts on CAD as directed by senior management and insures their accuracy through final implementation of event. Preform all other job related duties as requested.
At least 5 years of experience in event related technical and operations management of large scale events (5,000+).
At least 1 year of supervisory experience in Arena operations.
Extensive knowledge of Computer Assisted Drawing (CAD) programs.
Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook at an executive level.
Excellent customer service skills.
Able to lead and mentor a team.
Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Work varied shifts including weekends and holidays.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
Associate Degree or equivalent Technical Certification.
Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
