The purpose of this position is to support daily activity and events hosted at the Allen Event Center. This is accomplished by supervising the front of house staff and operations, and developing relationships with third party vendors for entertainment services. Other duties may include overseeing sales and service activities, including sponsorship and personal seat licensing, booking and scheduling of rentals and entertainment, production and coordination of events, guest services, and the box office. This position provides direction to other employees.
• Conducts break-even analysis of events to include all event costs such as facility rental, equipment rental and event staffing.
• Assists in the budgetary process by participating in the development and administration of the annual budget, participating in the forecast of funding needs for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies, monitoring and approving expenditures and implementing adjustments.
• Oversees activities of staff by hiring, planning and assigning work activities, projects and programs, reviewing and evaluating work products, methods and procedures and by meeting with employees to identify and resolve problems.
• Reviews and recommends policy and procedure improvements to increase the efficiency and safety of the Allen Event Center.
Formal Education / Knowledge Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Experience Five years of relevant experience.
Writing Advanced - Ability to write editorials, journals, speeches, manuals, or critiques. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in at the college level or above. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Managerial Receives limited directions. The employee normally performs the duty assignment according to his or her own judgment, requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary. The assignment may be reviewed upon completion. Performance is reviewed periodically.
Budget Responsibility Prepares budget documents; and does research to justify language used in documents for a unit or division of a department. May recommend budget allocations.
Supervisory / Organizational Control Work requires managing and monitoring work performance by directing subordinate supervisors or administrators, including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed.
Complexity Work requires analysis and judgment in accomplishing diversified duties. Requires the exercise of independent thinking within the limits of policies, standards, and precedents.
Interpersonal / Human Relations Skills Decisions regarding establishment of policies may be made. Contact may involve support of controversial positions or the negotiation of sensitive issues or important presentations.
