Oversees ticket sales and all aspects of box office operation by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates:
Directs and oversees the internal control of daily operations as outlined in the SMG Box Office Manual.
Coordinates all event information between the promoter, Ticketmaster, and internal staff in a timely manner and responds quickly and accurately to questions.
Works with event promoter and appropriate personnel to establish ticket pricing and seating configuration.
Builds and modifies all computer ticket events and issues computer access codes to facility management.
Coordinates with event promoters to establish the house scale for all ticket events.
Maintains communication with Ticketmaster representatives for updates and/or revisions in computer operations and implements procedures in response to technological changes.
Establishes files on each event that consist of seats on-hold for the building and promoter, complimentary ticket vouchers, event audits and ticket inventory schedules.
Monitors daily ticket sales for all upcoming events and communicates information to SMG management and promoter representative.
Maintains accurate record of daily balance of cash received, tickets sold and change bank/vault.
Creates and produces all box office sales reports. Account for ticket sales for each event and provide accounting with reconciled daily activity reports.
Prepares and presents the final box office statement for settlement of each event.
Manages subordinate supervisors who are responsible for the employees of the box office. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; scheduling; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, responds promptly to customer needs and to requests for service and assistance, able to work both independently and as a team member, and handles most office box questions without assistance.
Assists or sells tickets as needed.
Attends weekly staff meetings. Develops and maintains a harmonious working relationship with all of the other departments.
Works extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree preferred and a minimum three (3) years of related experience or equivalent combinations of education and experience. Accounting, customer service, and supervisory experience is essential. Experience working with Ticketmaster and CAD is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Excellent communication (oral and written), problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and financial procedures, including record- keeping and reconciliation.
Knowledge of supervisory principals and practices.
Maintain an effective working relationship with promoters, Ticketmaster, internal staff, patrons, and other encountered in the course of employment.
A demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, solve problems, make decisions, and work with minimum instruction or supervision.
Ability to uphold and demonstrate company’s commitment to exceptional customer service.
Ability to function both independently and as a team member.
Must have professional attitude and appearance.
Tact, diplomacy, and discretion required in all matters.
Ability to work flexible hours based on events, including daytime, evening, weekends, and holidays as needed.
