The Production Manager (PM), who reports to the Director of Operations and Production works closely with the Director of Operations, Frost Amphitheater, leads and manages a diverse team to produce high-quality events. This position assists with all production management tasks including budgeting, payroll, stage management, and managing crew/changeovers in all Stanford Live (SL) venues. In collaboration with the Director of Operations and Production, the PM is responsible for the supervision, planning, and staffing of the SL Season, all use of Bing Concert Hall and Frost Amphitheater. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of all aspects of technical theater, be an excellent creative problem-solver, and approach difficult situations with a solution-oriented mindset. They will also be excellent at prioritizing, managing their own workflow and that of a labor crew, and have a network of colleagues in the field to hire and consult with about various production needs. This person will thrive in a small, rigorous, team-oriented environment. Ability to work under pressure and in rapidly changing circumstances, as well as a sense of humor, are a must.
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Superior project and event management skills.
Ability to manage a diverse team of staff and contingent labor, holding them to deadlines and the highest quality output.
Demonstrated experience with financial management of complex event budgets requiring excellent analytical skills.
Extreme attention to detail and deadlines; ability to prioritize and manage complex workflows.
Excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills. Must be well organized and detailed oriented.
Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.
Demonstrated high level of confidence in making strategic decisions, good judgment, and innovative and creative problem solving skills.
Drafting ability in Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD
Knowledge of job-related health/safety issues and ability to identify potential hazards.
Good computer skillson both PC and MAC systems with experience working in Microsoft Office and a strong understanding of networking technologies.
Theatrical terminology, stage rigging, scenic construction technology, and theatrical production equipment.
