The Venue Operations Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of event set-ups and conversions in University Arenas venues. The Gene Polisseni Center (112,000 square feet), Gordon Field House & Activities Center (160,000 square feet), and the Frank Ritter Ice Arena (100,000 square feet) host over 300 events annually with over 275,000 in event attendance.
The position is responsible for the management of the Aquatics Center facility operations as a Certified Pool Operator (CPO), and the management of University Arenas equipment inventory, including purchasing, organization, and maintenance.
Responsible to all customers and co-workers to provide excellent service in a friendly, sincere and courteous manner. Work closely with all staff to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Responsible for the planning and execution of all event set-ups and conversions for all University Arenas venues (Gordon Field House, Aquatics Center, Gene Polisseni Center, Ritter Ice Arena).
Aquatics Center facility operations; Certified Pool Operator, liaison with Monroe County Health Department & RIT Maintenance / Engineering.
Coordinate University Arenas daily and annual facility maintenance.
Responsible for inventory and procurement of all aquatic maintenance equipment and chemical supplies.
Responsible for all University Arena equipment as it relates too procurement, inventory and organization.
Assist in planning and oversight of all University Arena capital and operational maintenance working in conjunction with appropriate internal and external personnel.
Act as Manager on Duty on-site during assigned events throughout University Arenas venues; responsible for event day coordination and execution of all applicable services.
Hire, train, supervise, discipline, recognize and schedule University Arenas Venue Operations Student Staff.
Carry out special assignments as requested
Attend meetings and seminars as requested by Senior Management
Ability to work extended days, evenings, and weekends on a regular basis.
Must obtain and retain Certified Pool Operator (CPO) with-in first 6 months of employment.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree of Equivalent Experience
2-4 years of relevant experience in the following:
Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with varied constituencies of the RIT community, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni are preferred.
High attention to detail and follow up, and excellent planning and organization skills.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
Master’s Degree in Sport Management, Facility Operations or related field.
ASL skills or willingness to learn
Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
Proficiency with Event Management System (EMS) or equivalent software application
Experience using Humanity employee scheduling software
