The Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc. is seeking a Member and Philanthropy Manager to join the Development Office. This position supports the nonprofit’s mission by helping raise funds that allow it to program a broad range of artists, films and educational performances.
The Member and Philanthropy Manager is responsible for managing the robust membership program and grants portfolio of the nonprofit Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Member and Philanthropy Manager will manage membership fulfillment, stewardship and communications; maintain and grow the current grants portfolio; and assist the Senior Director of Development with other organizational development functions as assigned. The ideal candidate for this role will approach donor stewardship and fundraising with positivity, professionalism, accuracy, confidentiality and enthusiasm.
He/She will provide administrative/database help associated with stewardship and engagement of individual and institutional donors, patrons and potential donors. Specifically, the position supports donor relations, including maintaining donor records in Archtics (ticketing/development database/CRM) and development files, preparing acknowledgement letters, member renewal mailings, and other written communications with donors as well as making renewal phone calls to past donors. The position provides administrative assistance to the Senior Director of Development, including scheduling meetings; screening mail and calls; and responding to inquiries by phone, email or letter.
The position also helps manage special projects and provides logistical support for meetings and events organized by the Development Office.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following areas of focus:
Routinely interact with members and donors via phone and email
Ensure delivery of all membership benefits across multiple channels
Generate, and oversee continuity of, membership communications and collateral
Respond to member inquiries/issues related to ticketing, online accounts, benefits, etc.
Ensure timely recognition of gifts via mail and phone
Assist with year-end and other fundraising campaigns
Assist with coordination of member events, including tours, invitation-only screenings, etc.
Conduct member/donor and grant funder research
Process and fulfill memberships
Generate gift and prospect reports to assist with development strategy
Assist with routine database cleanup
This is a full-time salaried position with benefits. The position requires reliable transportation and a flexible work schedule including some night and weekend work. Candidates must have excellent communication and decision-making skills. Key competences for this position include being self-motivated, highly organized, and possessing superior attention to detail. Candidates must be experienced in the entire Microsoft Office suite of products.
