Jefferson County Fairgrounds is currently hiring a Fairgrounds Manager. The Fairgrounds Manager is responsible for driving division strategies to evolve and enhance the guest experience at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The manager is tasked with planning and overseeing event venue operations at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The manager is responsible for managing on-site teams, vendors, contractors and events across the entire event lifecycle, from event discovery, planning, delivery and implementation. This position plays a critical role in transforming the entire guest experience, including interactions, physical implementation, and operational processes. This position also provides support to Boettcher Mansion and other division services, products, and facilities.
Fairgrounds Manager will be able to:
Oversee all operations and activities associated with the Fairgrounds. Implement, manage and enforce policies and procedures associated with the division and venue. Supervise the scheduling and promotion of all events at the Fairgrounds.
Contribute to the division's overall financial strategy while monitoring expenses and revenues to assure conformity with the approved budget. Administer contracts and agreements with event organizers, vendors, contractors and agents.
Proactively evaluate guest experience strengths and challenges to identify opportunities for new and/or improved experience delivery. Responsible for the overall service culture through consistent, intentional guest experiences. Evaluate facilities' practices and recommends improvements to the efficiency and safety of operations. Evaluate overall cleanliness and facilities/maintenance issues of venue spaces.
Act as an advocate for the division within the events and venues industry as well the public and private sectors for issues relevant and valuable to the division and Jefferson County. Set the standard for delivering on the brand promise through personal conduct, leading by example and a focus on team building and staff development. Champion the implementation of the division's strategy and the accomplishment of short-term and long-term goals. Build an inspired culture within the staff, clients, partners and vendors that promotes the mission, vision and values of the division.
Assist with the development, planning and execution of county signature events. Works closely with the Jefferson County Extension Office, Fairgrounds Advisory Committee, staff, and 4-H groups in planning and conducting the annual Jeffco Fair & Festival and related activities.
Supervise staff and make recommendations for personnel matters such as: recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, granting leave, appraisals, and taking corrective action. Conduct performance evaluations and communicate short- and long-term goals and objectives.
Provides effective information and communication to the Fairgrounds Advisory Committee and facilitates both regular and special meetings that address the operational and programming matters for the venue.
Three or more years of closely related experience
Ability to adjust work schedule to coincide with operational and event needs and the ability to work hours in addition to regular business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, public relations, entertainment, sports, or closely related field
Five or more years related work experience
Experience in event production and event management
Previous facility or venue management experience with performing arts centers, event venues, arenas, convention centers, fairgrounds and/or stadiums
Literacy in event and venue scheduling software
Experience in rodeo/livestock management
Experience formulating and implementing procedures, policies and programs relating to the operation of a convention center, arena, fairgrounds, stadium or other multipurpose entertainment or public assembly facility

Background check required. Colorado Driver's License at hire. Position allows for an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
CPR, First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator Certifications within 6 weeks. In addition to normal weekday business hours, the duties of this position will require work before, during or immediately following shows or events which occur outside of normal business hours (nights, weekends, holidays, etc.)
On a rotating basis, this individual will be on-call to act as Manager on Duty for events at other venues as needed. This position is on call for snow removal duties.
