Summary: Performs a variety of tasks and functions to assist with carrying out day-to-day and event management operations at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, a multipurpose venue arena that hosts a variety of events including Wake Forest Men's and Women's Basketball, high school athletic tournaments, concerts, shows, graduations, conventions, etc. The Event Manager will also assist with the other intercollegiate events and athletic facilities as necessary.
Essential Functions: •Accountable for planning and executing 100+ events annually. Events may include concerts, conventions, performances, trade shows, athletic events, corporate, and other special events. •Assists with and oversees management of events held in the LJVM Coliseum and BB&T Field. •Assists with revenue development within the Athletic Department to include the acquisition of new non-intercollegiate events. •Coordinates and assists in the setup and tear down of events held at the LJVM Coliseum and BB&T Field. •Negotiates contracts and agreements with event organizers, hosts, and managers under the consultation of the Assistant Athletic Director, External Event and Facility Operations and the Associate Director of the LJVM Coliseum. •Serves in a support role for preparations and game management of all home football games, men’s basketball games, women’s basketball games, and other intercollegiate athletic events. •Coordinate specific event staffing levels and provide staffing estimates for events. •Oversee event staff during events including; housekeeping, ticket takers, ushers, security, directors, police, fire, overnight security and EMS personnel. •Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with vendors, clients, tenants, Athletic Department members, entertainment industry, city officials, community, and civic organizations to encourage continual and regular use of the LJVM Coliseum. •Assists with tracking and managing the Declaration of Restrictive Covenants and Conditions pertaining to the LJVM Coliseum. •Evaluates facility practices and recommends improvements to better serve clients and the facility, and improve the efficiency and safety of event management. •Develops and updates documents, policies, and procedures. •Coordinates facility maintenance with athletic turf and facilities department to ensure competitive condition. •Assists with arena conversions as needed. •Coordinates with security contractor to ensure facility is secured 24/7. •Assists with capital projects as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director, External Events and Facility Operations and the Associate Director, Event Operations with emphasis on basketball arena projects. •Hires and organizes employees necessary to prepare facilities for the constant fluctuation of events. •Supervises student workers, interns, and contracted staff for events. •Assists in the overall event management for postseason NCAA or ACC events as needed. •Accountable for designated event and department budgets which may include handling of cash and charge cards. •Provides limited assistance in coordinating events for Bridger Field House, David F. Couch Ballpark, McCreary Tower and other athletic facilities as needed. •Assists in the implementation of customer service section of the Athletic Department’s Strategic Plan. •Reports any potential ACC and NCAA rules violations to the Director. •Performs other related duties as assigned by the Assistant AD, External Events and Facility Operations and the Associate Director, Event Operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree plus two years of related experience, an equivalent combination of education and experience, or five years of work experience in a directly related capacity. Previous experience working within an intercollegiate athletic program and a multipurpose facility in the event management area preferred. Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions; subject to extreme heat and cold; subject to hazards and atmospheric conditions; subject to oils; exposed to infectious diseases.

General knowledge of ACC and NCAA policies and regulations as they pertain to tournament operations, management, and activities.

Ability to meet requirements of the University's automobile insurance policy.
Experience driving fork lifts, scissor lifts and other heavy-duty machinery not a requirement, but preferred.
Previous experience working with concert promoters, production staff and/or union labor preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Supervises all interns, game day staff, volunteers and student assistants.
Assists with providing instruction, direction, and problem solving assistance to event management staff.
