Under the direct supervision of the Operations Supervisor, the Operations Specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining the ice surface, equipment and overall general support of the arena. This position will assist with the general maintenance of the building and with coordinating the change-over between different events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
•Assists with the installation of ice, which includes freezing floor, painting base color lines and logos; building up ice sheet. •Prepares ice for all practices, games and other ice events to include but not limited to removing debris, checking ice depth, edging, and resurfacing ice. •Assists with the setup and take down of all Civic Center events including, but not limited to; RibFest, Vetter Stone Amphitheater Events and MN Air Spectacular. •Assists with the removal of ice after the season ends. •Maintains ice and lay water as needed. •Operates and properly cares for ice equipment including, but not limited to; forklift, floor scrubbers, Zamboni, ice-surfacers and ice-edger. •Assists in coordinating change-over between different events, including concerts, sporting events, trade shows, and speaking engagements. •Follows the preventative maintenance program, energy management program and standard operation procedures for all machinery and equipment. •Performs routine air quality checks in accordance with MN Department of Health regulations. •Routinely inventories supplies and equipment and orders supplies when necessary. •Provides training, instruction, guidance and oversight of all contracted labor working as Operational and Guest Services/Security Staff. •Performs physical/mental demands of the work environment requirements for this position. •Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary. •Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.

HOURS OF WORK:
Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. May include weekends, holidays and non-standard work hours to accommodate off hour practices and arena usage.
High School Diploma/GED; and demonstrated experience in a building operations and maintenance field position.
Have completed STAR Certified Ice Technician training or a willingness to actively obtain certification within 2 years.
