Develop and maintain an effective and competitive intercollegiate men’s basketball program through recruitment of quality student-athletes and successful coaching of those individuals. In the recruitment effort, incumbent will be a representative of the total institution, with all of the factual knowledge and sensitivities required by that representative. Incumbent will also coordinate and oversee all camps and clinics in the department.
50% Coaching 1. Understand and develop plans for student-athlete success on and off the court of competition. 2.Plan, organize, and execute all in-season practice sessions, competition plans, and team meetings as well as off-season conditioning programs. 3.Collaborate and plan with staff to implement strength and conditioning for men's basketball student-athletes. 4.Continually evaluate each individual student-athlete's needs and short/long term goals.
30% Administrative 1. Devise schedule for competition including all travel arrangements for all away meets (including transportation, lodging, food). 2.Assign coaching and recruiting responsibilities to and supervise the work of assistant coaches. 3.Oversee compliance with NCAA and WIAC rules and regulations. Ensure adherence to rules, regulations, and policies of all governing bodies (UW-Oshkosh, WIAC, and NCAA). 4.Establish and execute a successful fundraising plan for the program. 5.Promote the program, athletic department, and university, as a whole, through camps, clinics and speaking engagements. 6.Develop and maintain relationships with UW-Oshkosh Men's Basketball alumni and friends. 7.Maintain responsibility for all program expenditures and revenues. 8.Monitor student-athletes in their academic performances, to assure a timely progress to degree completion. 9.Take part in professional development and educational activities to learn new ideas, concepts and changes that occur in men's basketball at the conference and national level. 10.Attend departmental meetings, organizational efforts and departmental activities. 11.Manage and communicate with the coaching staff and resources, as well as maintaining a positive collaboration with support staff. 12.Create and maintain an environment that is respectful and accepting of diversity. Set clear guidelines for expected behaviors and clear methods of reporting inappropriate behavior. 13. Develop and execute fundraising projects when appropriate. 14.Coordinate and supervise home contests including facility set-up, student staff, ticket sales, and game management for select spring sports. 15.Work in conjunction with the financial specialist on camp registration, medical release forms and all other paperwork. 16.Take the lead role in coordinating all marketing materials and special events for all camps and clinics. 17.Order or supervise the ordering of food, supplies, and equipment, and arrange for proper distribution at camps and clinics. 18.Monitor safety and all procedures at camps and clinics as they pertain to the complete supervision of all campers and staff. 19.Maintain and review camp records and evaluations of all programs, operations, staff, and facilities. 20.Ensures compliance by staff and campers for all policies and procedures set forth in the staff manual and emergency procedures. 21.Demonstrate familiarity with national trends and best practices related to diversity, inclusivity, undergraduate retention programs and practices, academic support services and campus climate issues. 22.Endorse and support other sports within the Athletic Department and other duties as outlined by the Athletic Director.
10% Recruiting 1. Recruit and retain academically and athletically qualified student-athletes. 2.Follow recruiting guidelines of UW-Oshkosh, the WIAC and the NCAA. 3.Work collaboratively within the university to plan, organize, implement, and follow up on an extensive on-going recruiting effort through written, verbal and personal contact with student-athletes and their families.
10% Campus/Community Engagement 1. Cultivate team community service activities, develop and promote support of UW-Oshkosh Men's Basketball and athletics as a whole in the Fox Valley Community and within campus. 2.Work with the university marketing team on game environment and community outreach initiatives. 3.Emphasize the athletic department goal of supporting fellow men's and women's sport programs. 4. Demonstrate success in UW Oshkosh's essential learning outcomes. 5.Demonstrate record and commitment to diversity and inclusion and able to work with diverse populations, including but not limited to people of all ages with various ethnic, sexual orientation, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds. 6.Exhibit experience in and appreciation of inclusivity, first generation, low income and multicultural issues. 7.Create and maintain a work environment that is respectful and accepting of diversity. Set clear guidelines for expected behaviors and clear methods of reporting inappropriate behaviors.
