Responsible for developing, coordinating, and directing all phases of the baseball program as it pertains to personnel and their responsibilities, budgeting, scheduling, travel, meals, scholarship allocation, recruiting, scouting, purchase and care of equipment, coaching, giving appropriate direction to student-athletes as it relates to academics, while adhering to all ACC, NCAA, Athletics Department, and University rules and regulations. Promote men's baseball through community events and public relations activities, fund raising, public speaking and promoting and marketing tickets with the intent to fill the arena and to maximize revenue. Work with the Director of Athletics in conveying policy or its interpretation.
Determine the scope and purpose of the baseball program. Hire competent assistants and support staff and assign responsibilities. Establish recruiting policies and direct all personnel involvement. Establish academic, athletic and community service policies for student-athletes. Direct and develop baseball summer camp. Maintain current skills and techniques in coaching, recruiting, training and general management of a division I-A intercollegiate sport program while adhering to Athletics Department, University, ACC, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Establish policies and guidelines for all baseball personnel and student-athletes, design academic guidelines for student athletes within the framework of NCAA, ACC, Athletics Department, and University rules and regulations.
Internal business contact for this position includes frequent contact with sports information, marketing, Seminole Boosters, game operations, academics, sports medicine, equipment, strength and conditioning, student services, and compliance staffs. Public contact for this position includes public speaking and appearances to various booster groups, alumni, university and community members, media, and recruits and their family.
Responsible for the direct supervision of all student-athletes who participate in the baseball program. Provides leadership and instruction in a student-athletes personal and athletic development to include counseling in academic, disciplinary, and personal matters, when appropriate. Supervises assistant coaches and support staff to include paid, volunteer, undergraduate and graduate assistants to ensure their compliance with applicable Athletic Department, University, ACC, NCAA rules, policies, and procedures. Provides training and guidance as appropriate.
Develop budget and maintain accurate records of expenditures. Oversee the selection, purchase, fitting and maintenance of team equipment, uniforms, athletic equipment, and supplies. Position is privy to confidential data, i.e., student records. Maintain confidentiality of all practice/game plans, staff meetings, appropriate recruiting activities, and any other data the disclosure of which may adversely affect the program .
Master's degree and one year of coaching experience at the collegiate level in baseball; or a Bachelor's degree and three years of the same coaching experience.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply NCAA rules and regulations. Experience with management of sports programs.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
