The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Department of Athletics, and NCAA Division III member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), seeks applicants for the position of Head Men’s Soccer Coach. (Please note that men’s soccer is not a sponsored sport of the WIAC.) This is a full-time, 12-month basis position that offers excellent fringe benefits. This position also has additional administrative duties in addition to coaching (40%). Secondary duties will be determined on department needs and the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications. Examples of secondary duties may include: event management, sports information, compliance, fundraising, academics liaison, admissions liaison, student-athlete leadership/development/life skills, equipment, ticket operations, strength and conditioning, etc.
Responsible for management and administration of all phases of the men’s soccer program, student-athletes and staff. Duties include, but are not limited to: coaching, recruiting qualified student- athletes including use of recruiting software (Front Rush), fundraising, camp operations, budget administration, team travel, developing community support for the program, monitoring academic progress of student-athletes, and hiring and supervision of assistant coach/graduate assistant. Additional duties will be assigned based on departmental needs and successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Three (3) years of men’s soccer coaching experience on the collegiate level
Demonstrated success recruiting high caliber student-athletes (character, academics, competitiveness)
Event planning, camp and/or clinic experience.
Demonstrated priority of ensuring success of the student-athlete experience
Proven accountability of student-athlete academic success
Established leadership principles and integrity
Ability to influence and motivate student-athletes
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks
Ability to work weekends, evenings and travel
Knowledge of NCAA rules
Transferable skills, educational background, expertise or experience to serve the UW-Platteville Department of Athletics in coaching and in assigned secondary duties
Proven success as a head coach or top level assistant
Demonstrated recruiting ability in the Midwest (WI, IL, IA, MN, etc.)
Successful fundraising experience
Previous DIII coaching experience
Master’s degree in a Health and Human Performance related area with teaching experience on the collegiate level or a nationally recognized strength and conditioning certification
Knowledge of computer applications for recruiting and video breakdown
