Tacoma Venues & Events is responsible for sports and entertainment venues within the City of Tacoma (including the Tacoma Dome, Greater Tacoma Convention Center, historic theaters, and Cheney Stadium), the Office of Arts and Cultural Vitality, and the Special Events program.
TVE is seeking a Business Manager to lead the Business Services Division. The successful candidate will plan and manage all aspects of financial and accounting activities for TVE including purchasing, procurement, accounts payable, billing, payroll and collections; organize and control a variety of technical accounting related duties including event settlement; develop and implement TVE performance goals and priorities related to financial management and budget; oversight of third party vendor contracts including box office; auditing, budget preparation and monitoring; preparation and analysis of financial reports and projections; supervision of division staff of five. Key responsibilities:
Manage, plan, direct and control the accounting processes and day to day operations. Develop and implement technical accounting procedures and practices; formulate, interpret and implement accounting policies, strategies and procedures.
Analyze prepare and review financial statements and assure compliance of reports with policy and generally accepted accounting practices.
Supervise and direct the annual budget preparation process. Review and analyze proposed expenditures, department allocations and preliminary budgets.
Assure that expenditures are charged against the appropriate line item and approve expenditures in accordance with established guidelines and limitations.
Compile information, collect and analyze data and prepare reports related to department operations and activities.
Select, supervise, develop and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
Coordinate communication and projects with other City departments, governmental and private agencies, key venue partners and third party contractors.

Qualifications Desired: Bachelors' degree in Accounting, finance, or related field with five to seven years of increasingly responsible experience in financial management and accounting (preferably in the venue management industry). Experience in preparation and management of the operation's budget and five years' management and/or supervisory experience. CPA or CMA preferred.
