An Assistant Development Director is needed to assist under the leadership of the Associate Executive Director – Scholarship & Legacy Gifts in achieving fundraising and stewardship goals through work on specific projects and initiatives, and the management of gift prospects. Responsibilities include: assisting with various scholarship stewardship processes, coordinating and managing the day to day needs of the FORevHER Tar Heels women’s athletics’ initiative, managing a portfolio of scholarship and other major gift prospects, assisting with sport-specific fund raising, and working on specific projects and other duties as assigned (including but not limited to the student-athlete endowed scholarship assignment process, annual scholarship donor events, and individual scholarship donor stewardship dinners).
Four-year Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree and minimum of one year of experience in an athletic fundraising environment preferred.
Assist with the management of the student-athlete endowed scholarship assignment process, annual scholarship donor events, individual scholarship donor stewardship dinners, and other assigned projects related to endowed scholarship donors, other major gift prospects and student-athletes
Provide the proper stewardship for scholarship donors after pledge commitments are secured (including, but not limited to: individual scholarship donor dinners, donor wall, video board and game program recognition, and emails to donors regarding student-athlete assignee accomplishments).
Under the leadership of the Associate Executive Director for Scholarship & Legacy Gifts, assist and coordinate Assist with the FORevHER Tar Heels women’s initiative planning, and launch, and stewardship while also assisting with fundraising for the initiative. The long- term goal will be gaining the experience to ultimately with the goal of directing direct the initiative in the future.
Manage and steward a portfolio of scholarship donors and other major gift prospects, identify potential new scholarship donors and upgrade candidates, as well as assist with donor proposal strategy sessions.
Assist the Associate Executive Director in promoting sport-specific fund- raising support for men's and women's swimming/diving, softball, and women's basketball as requested.
Assist the Associate Executive Director with other donor related needs and requests donor correspondence as well as the fulfillment and distribution of tickets and parking passes when requested.
Attend Foundation events, Executive Board and Board of Advisors meetings as requested, and any other events where representation of the Educational Foundation is needed (i.e. football and basketball games and pre-game receptions, Tar Heel Tour events, Kenan Equity Seating in-person appointments).
Must be willing to travel occasionally. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
Working knowledge and experience with fundraising database systems such as Titan or other comparable systems.
Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word and Excel.
Ability to interact, write, speak and communicate clearly with our donors and constituents, while portraying a professional image and demeanor.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work tasks.
Must be able to drive.
Ability to see, hear, speak, maintain cognitive function at a high level and move about the office, along with ability to lift 20 pounds.
