POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for security operations in the Memorial Arts Building (MAB) and surrounding grounds, including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Alliance Theatre and MAB events. Manages security administration, budgeting and operations for the MAB. This includes (but is not limited to) the safety and security of the MAB facilities, staff, service partners and patrons. This position is classified as an essential operating position and as such, may be required to remain on and/or report for duty during declared emergencies or when necessary to support MAB operational needs. Unless otherwise approved, this position must remain available for consultation via cell phone around the clock.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Hire and train MAB Security Team.
Establish guidelines for communication
Assist the VP of Operations with preparation of the MAB Security Department annual budget.
Prepare the MAB Security Department schedules.
Prepare the MAB Security Department payroll.
Provide continual immediate and long-range assessment of the MAB protection needs, including recommending changes in personnel, equipment and/or operating procedures as required.
Support Arts Partners and Campus Activities & Events
Attend weekly planning meetings and prepare MAB Security schedules and staff duties according to the needs of each MAB event.
Ensure third-party predetermined guidelines are adhered to for special events and/or unusual security requests.
Establish and maintain a relationship and open lines of communication with federal, state, and city officials, particularly the Atlanta Police and Fire Departments.
Keep abreast of technological changes in the security field and recommend changes or improvements to the MAB security equipment, technology and processes as needed.
Train MAB Security Team in the operation of the computerized fire alarm and evacuation system, the access control system and the CCTV system.
Provide technical knowledge and guidance with the installation and maintenance of MAB protection equipment.
Compliance / Policies and Procedures
Implement customer service training for MAB Security Team.
Investigate and ensure proper reporting of all injury or loss of property claims for MAB personnel, contractors, invitees and patrons.
Assist Vice President of Operations with maintenance of MAB Security Department’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), as necessary.
Ensure security contractor follows legal and contract requirements.
Monitor third-party security contractor performance, including the staffing of posts, review of schedules, reporting and status of contractor and MAB deliverables.
