The Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing works in an agency model as a specialist out of the office of University Marketing & Communications exclusively supporting our internal client UVU Athletics. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Marketing and serves UVU Athletics by understanding, advising, creating, and executing the strategic needs of UVU Athletics.
This position develops and implements an aggressive marketing, advertising, and promotion plan for all assigned sport programs and will have a strong focus on increasing revenue, fan attendance, in-game and pre-game experiences, and ticket sales. This position will be charged to increase awareness, engagement, and conversion through integrated marketing strategies across events, traditional, and digital tactics. This position works with various levels of personnel within the areas of graphic design, photography, broadcast, ticketing, loyalty programming, digital media, athletics, public relations, and development. Marketing strategies are envisioned and executed to cohesively support game day operations and experiences for all audiences.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of UVU policies and procedures helpful. - Knowledge of the regulations governing intercollegiate athletics as set forth by the NCAA, the WAC, and the BIG 12. - Knowledge of Collegiate sports and has a passion for marketing sports. - Knowledge of project planning, managing, and budgeting social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc, and strategies to leverage these channels. - Knowledge of organic sports marketing tactics, sponsorship creation, and management. - Knowledge of current marketing and promotional strategies and best practices. - Knowledge of video and photo production techniques. - Knowledge of how to operate and maintain all game day production equipment. - Knowledge of NCAA DI technical writing procedures. - Skills in Psychographic profiling; Data mining; Calculation of Reach, CPI, Conversion and response rates; and Calculation of ROI for marketing initiatives. - Skills in corporate relations and Grassroots event marketing. - Skills in developing marketing materials used for promotion, advertising, fund raising, etc. - Skills in judgement and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience. - Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, Lightroom, InDesign, etc.) - Proficient in Microsoft Suite software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) - Proficient in camera, lighting, sound, and editing techniques. - Must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written. - Ability to uphold and abide by all NCAA, WAC, and BIG 12 regulations and UVU Institutional policies and procedures. - Ability to develop annual and multi-year marketing plans for all 16 intercollegiate athletic sport programs sponsored by the University. - Ability to create and implement marketing and promotional strategies to help increase attendance and revenue for UVU Athletics, as well as enhance the fan experience and game day atmosphere for home contests. - Ability to supervise and direct marketing and promotional strategies for designated intercollegiate athletic sport programs sponsored by the University. - Ability to manage logistics and pre-production of supporting tools for promotional initiatives for designated intercollegiate athletic sport programs sponsored by the University. - Ability to manage a set budget as assigned by the Senior Director of Marketing, University Marketing. - Ability to create budget forecasting and project wrap-up reports and analysis. - Must be comfortable with modest-to-no budget and non-traditional marketing strategies. - Ability to coordinate effectively with various campus and community constituencies. - Ability to communicate and manage relationships across a wide range of stakeholders (coaches, administrators, student-athletes, media, alumni, corporate representatives, etc.) - Ability to interact and communicate with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds. - Ability to work with people in public relations settings. - Ability to plan, organize, and problem-solve. - Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines. - Ability to recruit, train, and supervise staff employees associated with the Athletic Marketing and Promotion team.

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor’s degree, plus one year of marketing/design experience OR a combination of relevant education and experience totaling five years.
Graphic design and video editing skills preferred.
Experience working in a collegiate athletics setting preferred.
This position requires frequent movement appropriate with marketing and promotions activities for the athletics division. In addition, the position also requires considerable time at a computer. Frequent need to lift 10 – 25 pounds. Frequent traveling required.
