The Athletics Department now welcomes applications for a Reporting Accountant. This position exists to provide support of departmental financial, accounting and business operations. Responsible for providing accounting expertise in accordance with all applicable University and State guidelines and procedures, to include:
•Creation of journal entries within PeopleSoft. Reconciliation of various general ledger accounts.
•Analysis of departmental financial activity and revenue assurances.
•Reporting of financial activity.
•Assist with the annual year-end closing, audit, and agreed upon procedures.
•Assist with accounting, processing and reporting of special events and camps.
•Assist with the development of policies and procedures, internal controls, and operational efficiencies overall within the department to comply with the guidelines of the University of Colorado and Pac-12.
This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Pac 12 Conference and the NCAA.
•Reconciliation of various general ledger accounts to sub-systems and supporting schedules and documents.
•Analyze and review the general ledger accounts for variances and make recommendations for correcting entries.
•Provide detailed supporting documentation and explanations for reconciliations.
Reporting of financial activity:
•Assist with the accounting and closing procedures of camp and special event financial activity.
•Reconcile the GL and respective registration and gift systems.
Reporting of financial activity:
•Provide analysis and reconciliation of departmental general operating revenues and expenses and recruiting expenses.
•Complete financial statements on a monthly basis to send out to each respective department to ensure each are staying within budgetary constraints.
•Reclassify any revenue or expense item that needs to be corrected and accurately report such corrections on the monthly reports.
Assist with the annual year-end closing, audit, and agreed upon procedures:
•Assist Business Office staff with composition and completion of various schedules, reports, and supporting documentation for the annual year-end closing, audit, and NCAA agreed upon procedures.
•Understand and follow the NCAA agreed upon procedures and the University year-end close requirements related to year-end close and auditing.
Creation of journal entries:
•Create journal entries using PeopleSoft financial system, specifically those related to the expense system reallocation and general ledger corrections.
•Require an understanding of general accounting.
•Will be responsible for compiling and maintaining appropriate supporting documentation for general ledger entries.
Assist with the development of policies and procedures, internal controls, and operational efficiencies overall within the department to comply with the guidelines of the University of Colorado and Pac-12:
•Facilitate the Gift in Kind process between Athletics and the University.
•Controller to ensure accurate recognition and documentation for goods given directly to the Athletic Department.
•Provide supporting documentation of each Gift in Kind receipt for audit and reference purposes.
•Facilitate recognition of Trade Barter Agreements between the Ticket Office and the University Controller.
•Provide supporting documentation for each for audit and reference purposes.
What you will need:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute

Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and regulations.
Attention to detail.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and on a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
What we would like you to have:
Masters in Accounting, Finance or MBA.
Two years of experience with Intercollegiate Athletic Accounting.
Two years of experience with PeopleSoft Finance or related enterprise financial software
