Job Description Under general management and procedural control, this position provides direct oversight of the upkeep and maintenance of the McAllen Convention Center and Performing Arts Center to include the HVAC, electrical and utilities, plumbing and irrigation systems, kitchen and refrigeration equipment.
Job Responsibilities 1. Supervises and provides training to staff and subordinates. 2. Reviews event details and building plans to identify potential engineering issues. Ensures all building codes are followed. 3. Schedules staff, monitors hours, and prepares reports to the director. 4. Monitors utility usage and purchases to ensure maximum saving. 5. Responsible for Departmental Energy Conservation Plans. 6. Monitors repair schedules and timelines to minimize downtime and inconvenience to facility events 7. Monitors, enhances, recommends, and implements formal preventative maintenance on all facility mechanical system and appropriate equipment. 8. Coordinates with contractors for facility maintenance and repairs. 9. Work schedule will involve working weekends, evenings, holidays, and as needed. 10. Position is subject to emergency on-call work.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Requirements - 1. Job requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and two years of post high school education from an accredited college or university. 2. Job requires a valid HVAC certification. 3. Job requires a minimum of 3 (three) years of related work experience as a tradesman in the field of building management or technical engineering services. A strong technical engineering background in public assemble, convention center, auditorium or commercial facility is preferred. 4. Must be available to available to work and coordinate a working force at irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays. 5. Must be customer-service oriented and professional appearance at all times; 6. Must be able to prepare specifications, reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. 7. Must be able to communicate effectively, at all levels, both orally and in writing. 8. Job requires a current, valid Texas Class C driver's license.

Additional Salary Information: $56,000- $62,000
