UNC Greensboro Athletics is seeking a to hire a Director of the Spartan Club. The primary purpose of this position is to manage all aspects of the day to day operations of the Spartan Club and to partner with alumni, friends, parents, coaches, administrators, faculty and businesses, to achieve all goals related to the Athletic Scholarship Fund and Team Enrichment Funds. Since 1986, the Spartan Club has secured financial support to provide UNCG student-athletes with the opportunities to achieve academic and athletic success.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: •The Director of the Spartan Club will provide a leadership role for UNCG Athletics via the implementation of a comprehensive short-term and long-term fundraising plan utilizing available assets and managing budget to achieve all goals for the Athletic Scholarship Fund that will include major and leadership gifts from alumni, parents, friends, corporations, and staff. •Serve as the primary partner to all head coaches to develop strategic initiatives to engage alumni, family and friends with the goal of growing support for team specific Enrichment Funds. •Provide leadership direction for an energized and engaging communication, marketing, branding and social media plan for the Spartan Club. •In conjunction with the Senior Associate AD for Advancement and the Athletic Director, organize the activities of the Spartan Club Executive Committee and serve as the primary facilitator of its efforts. •Provide leadership and strategic direction for Spiro’s Ball, the Spartan Club’s annual marquee silent and live auction event; will also serve as primary manager of the Spiro’s Ball Committee. •Directs all activities of the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee. •Serves as a member of the Athletic Leadership Team. •Add value to overarching athletic advancement unit to successfully reach and grow financial and membership goals on an annual basis.
Experienced relationship builder with excellent communication skills-and the ability to be responsive, resourceful and relationship-oriented.
Knowledge of computer systems for prospect, donor, and ticketing management. Ability to work evenings and weekends with willingness to travel.
Minimum four years experience in fundraising or a closely related/comparable field.
Substantial experience and success in sales, philanthropic fundraising and project management.
Background in higher education and athletic department operations.
