Ensures that all business transactions are compliant with the established fiscal policies and procedures of the University, Board of Regents and State of Georgia. Develops and facilitates financial policies and procedures for assigned area. Monitors purchasing card activity and financial transactions. Serves as primary liaison to business services and other administrative units. Prepares department budget and budget amendments requests. Reviews and approves travel reports. Supervises assigned staff.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Accounting or related field
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Three (3) years related work experience in bookkeeping or accounting
Previous accounting experience at an institution of higher education preferred
Familiar with PeopleSoft Financials and Banner
Previous experience reviewing and reconciling travel expense statements
Reviews general ledger monthly to ensure all departmental expenses are posted to correct accounts
Maintains and processes general ledger reconciliation and records management
Assists with budget planning and management for assigned departments and/or financial systems
Prepares assigned area’s journal entries for posting
Reviews inventory records per policy and process
Prepares and maintains asset schedule and depreciation
Assists with preparation and reconciliation of all accounts payable, p-card, travel expenditures, purchase orders, and assigned location specific accounts, events and fundraising
Serves as backup for the handling and reconciliation of petty cash funds
Supervises assigned staff
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the overall Department of Event and Venue Management budgets, amendments, journal entries, and all business transactions of the department that includes contract review, reports, and reviewing payables monthly for accuracy.
Responsible for recognizing revenue and recording business activity on accrual basis.
Assist in event budget development for proposals and prepares Event Settlement packages for both promoter and internal and maintains event settlement packages files.
Create monthly budget vs. actual measurements by account
Reconcile GL account balances with supporting ledgers
Periodically review and update process documents. Review processes and make recommendations for strengthening internal controls and improving efficiency
Assist with budget preparation: preparing financial projections for 5-year budgets, processing line item budgets at the department/project level, 10 year PPV projection reporting, developing and implementing strategic planning reports for operations managers
Responsible for Sports Park Public Private Venture (PPV) analysis and reporting for units to Office of Fiscal Services and University System of Georgia.
Respond to questions from external and internal customers regarding Department of Event and Venue Management
Reconcile Event reports with vendor and internal customers. Provide coding for deposit or payment, as appropriate.
Assist with processing transactions on customer credit cards, as needed for authorized payments or error corrections
Responsible for supervising Event and Venue Management accounting and box office staff.
