This position is will serve as the primary NCAA compliance officer with direct responsibility for coordinating and monitoring the athletics department’s NCAA rules compliance program. Specific duties include: monitoring compliance systems, NCAA rules education, rules interpretations, investigation of NCAA rules violations, and the administration NCAA appeals, waivers and reports. Additional duties include administrating the NCAA Special Assistance Fund, the National Letter of Intent program and NCAA Clearinghouse. This individual will also serve as departmental liaison to Enrollment Services, Housing & Residence Life and Card Access. Other responsibilities include sport administration for assigned teams and game management duties for various sports. The candidate must have thorough knowledge of and strictly adhere to NCAA, BIG EAST, University and departmental rules, policies and procedures. The right candidate may also serve as the S.W.A.
-Perform duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
-Provide leadership at the highest level within the department of athletics
-Serve on national and BIG EAST Conference committees
-Provide oversight for achieving gender-equity
-Serve as a spokesperson for the needs and interests of women within the department of athletics
-Communicate effectively with all athletic departmental personnel, student-athletes, and university personnel
-Support University and athletic department mission and goals
-Maintain comprehensive documentation for NCAA rules compliance
-Demonstrate sound fiscal management
-Departmental liaison to Enrollment Services (Admissions, Financial Aid, Bursar, and Registrar), Academic Support Services, and Housing & Residence Life. Oversight of student-athlete support programs involving academic counseling, special support programs, and life skills development
NCAA Rules Compliance
-Coordinate rules education for departmental personnel, coaches, student-athletes, as well as on and off-campus constituencies.
-Ensure timely and accurate completion of Federal, NCAA, BIG EAST and University required forms.
-Design and monitor compliance systems.
-Provide rules interpretations.
-Investigate allegations of rules violations.
-Submit NCAA waiver and appeal requests.
-Administer the NCAA Special Assistance Fund and Student Athlete Opportunity Fund.
-Administer National Letter of Intent program.
-Prepare and monitor squad lists.
-Oversee initial-eligibility requirements through the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse.
-Audit continuing-eligibility with Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR).
-Ensure compliance with all recruiting rules and regulations, including but not limited to: official visits, unofficial visits, event ticket/admissions policies, recruiting calendars, number of visits, type and number of events coaches are permitted to observe, coaches certification test, and admission of PSAs.
-Administer Financial Aid budget (including summer aid) with AD and ensure compliance with team and individual limits.
-Determine each sports play and practice season and monitor athletically related activities.
-Process transfer requests.
-Coordinate housing needs for incoming student-athletes.
-Assist with scheduling process for assigned sport
-Work with head coach of assigned sport to develop short and long term goals
-Work with head coach to develop budget and maintain a system of accountability for expenditures
-Conduct performance review for head coach
Bachelor's Degree (Master's Preferred); 5-8 years experience in a college athletics leadership position; Prefer successful candidate to have had “hands-on” experience with NCAA Division I Rules Compliance.
