The Peace Center is currently seeking qualified applicants for an excellent opportunity as Production Technician - Head Carpenter/Rigger. The Technician is a hands-on position responsible for the carpentry and rigging related to shows and events at the Peace Center. This position will act as the stage manager and perform event management related duties for assigned shows.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):
Prepare/review show riders, crew calls, invoices, event reports, stage diagrams, lineset schedules, rigging diagrams, and various other reports and correspondence.
Advance shows, as assigned. Meet with clients, technical staff, and Peace Center personnel to discuss production needs and schedule crew calls.
Identify any technical problems, design issues or equipment limitations and notify appropriate client and management staff.
Maintain advance records and show records.
Supervise local labor during scheduled calls to ensure proper use of house equipment and efficient use of labor.
Maintain a safe working environment for all performance and support areas, ensuring that all building, electrical and fire codes are adhered to. Enforce Peace Center safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
Hang and strip soft goods based on event requirements.
Rigging (changing of rigging points & setting grid head blocks, pulleys, pick lines, etc.)
Experience with chain motors and arena-style rigging is a plus.
Oversee hands in operating fly system and use of tools and equipment.
Enforce safety program for rigging and fly systems.
Conduct internal rigging inspections.
Maintain and repair fly systems. Track/log maintenance and inspection records.
Serve as head flyman and rigger, as assigned.
Serve as Production Coordinator or Stage Manager, when assigned.
Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary to the position.
Must have solid experience with fly system and rigging. Good computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. Working knowledge of office tools and equipment. Ability to operate a forklift; certification a plus. Ability to use a variety of industry standard tools, materials and equipment to complete assigned projects.
