Event Manager The University of Maryland Alumni Association is seeking a dynamic, organized and customer service oriented event professional to join our team. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Serve as main point of contact for client events held at the alumni center. Manage logistics such as, but not limited to: event sales/contract negotiation, conduct preliminary walk-through meetings with clients, create room diagrams, discuss event needs, negotiate catering on behalf of the client, and arrange parking when necessary. Will be onsite at all assigned events (roughly 15 per month). •Effectively “up-sell” items such as bar packages, in-house uplighting, and staging to enhance the client’s event. •Maintain accurate records of events and ensure information is organized. •Ensure all billing is complete with the client, working closely with the association’s accounts receivable office. •Conduct consistent and reliable communication with clients via email and phone. •Complete timely follow-up with clients such as thank you notes, gifts and event evaluations. •Participate in team events such as “all hands on deck” events and working various event open houses at the alumni center. •Must be able to learn Gather (event planning software) and Roomviewer (diagram software) and have a good working knowledge of the in-house Audio Visual system, with appropriate training. •Be onsite for all alumni association signature events to include the Celebration of Terps (annual alumni awards gala), home football tailgates, UMD Homecoming and MD Day. •Other Administrative duties as assigned by Director of Sales & Marketing.
Salary range is $48,000 – $53,000 based on experience. The Alumni Association also offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package, including 25 Days Annual Leave; 15 Days Sick Leave; 15 Paid Holidays; Tuition Remission; Health, Dental, Vision and Prescription coverage.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: •Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. •Superior customer service skills and a friendly disposition required. •Organized, timely and must be able to work evenings & a minimum of 2 weekends per month. •Proficient in Microsoft Office.
