ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for an Ice Technician at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. Responsible to manage, prepare and maintain the facility, ice floor and resurfacing equipment. Also responsible for the supervision and guidance of the operations crew during setup, tear down, move in, move out and changeover of all events. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. •Install ice, including but not limited to: preparation and start of ice plant, installation of ice dasher system, preparation and freezing of floor; painting base color, lines and logos; and building-up the ice sheet. •Prepare ice for all practices, games and other ice events. Duties include but are not limited to: removing debris; checking ice depth; scraping, edging and resurfacing ice. •Operate and maintain the ice-resurfacer and ice-edger. •Repair and build ice. Must be familiar with techniques for repairing and building ice. •Monitor temperature and humidity levels of facility. •Assist with general related maintenance of the building in between games and ice events. •Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and makes recommendations for purchases. •Oversee and direct employees who assist with installation and maintenance of ice. •Must have working knowledge of ice rink dasher system and have the ability to make repairs, also have ability to replace glass in a timely and effective manner. •Keeps maintenance and operational logs of plant and ice operations equipment. •Operates and maintains refrigeration plant. •Assist in planning, directing and coordinating of set up activities consistent with facility standards. •Assign duties connected with physical conversion/set up of facility in accordance with client requirements. •Work with/oversee operations crew during event changeover and clean up. •Operate and maintain required equipment in connection with changeover and cleanup. •Ability or willingness to be trained to operate power equipment including, but not limited to: forklifts, man lifts, pickups, trucks, etc. •Perform general physical labor, i.e., carrying, lifting, laying turf, installing lights, setting staging, chairs, etc. •Follow written and oral instructions to prepare and provide requirement for a show as requested by the Event Manager or show promoter. To include electrical, staging, dressing room requirements and show day special requests. •Disburse staff as required, directed by the Assistant Director of Operations or requested by the Event Manager. •Maintain and deliver to Assistant Director of Operations, appropriate paperwork relating to event changeovers and clean ups. To include timesheets, billing requests, job cost information and maintenance records. •Maintains inventory as needed. Helps administer preventive maintenance program of department equipment in cooperation with Assistant Director of Operations. •Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills necessary. 2-3 years prior supervisory and ice management experience required. Knowledge of ice rink and dasher systems, refrigeration systems and control systems required. Knowledge and experience in operation of ice maintenance tools and equipment as well as the upkeep and maintenance of same.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, the individual needs good computer skills including working knowledge and the ability to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft office products and ice rink control systems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
OSHA 30 hr preferred
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines. Requires ability to work flexible/extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to climb steps. Requires extensive amounts of walking throughout the facility. Ability to visually inspect. Ability to push loaded dolly and operate a variety of building service equipment. Ability to frequently lift in excess of 50 pounds. Ability to work on catwalks 90’ high. This position is also exposed to adverse conditions including inclement weather, noise, fumes, etc. inside and outside of the facility.
