The Assistant / Associate Director, Leadership Giving reports to the Director, Annual Giving / Assistant Athletics Director and is responsible for the solicitation of Boston College alumni and parents capable of annual leadership gifts greater than $10,000 up to $249,000. Primary focus will be closing current-use gifts at the $25,000 through $249,000 level. The Assistant / Associate Director manages a portfolio of 150 or more regional donors and prospects and is expected to meet specific goals for contacts and completed solicitations. The Assistant / Associate Director writes effective solicitation letters and proposals and works collaboratively with peers in other fundraising areas including gift planning, athletics development, school development and organizational giving to maximize fundraising productivity. In addition, the Assistant / Associate Director works with the Director to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to increase annual cash giving through the solicitation, recognition and stewardship of annual leadership donors. In addition, the Assistant / Associate Director will serve as a sport specific fundraising liaison for assigned teams and assist with donor benefit fulfillment including but not limited to premium seating, parking and tickets as well as database management and telephone support for inquiries through the Flynn Fund main line.
Frequent evening and weekend work is required. Attendance at all home football games (7) required and most basketball and hockey (30+) games will also be necessary. In addition, attendance at periodic special events is required. Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges: Assistant Director: minimum 1-3 years of fundraising or directly related experience: $67,400 - $84,250 Associate Director, minimum 3-5years of fundraising or directly related experience: $76,250 - $95,300
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1-3 years of professional level frontline fundraising experience for the Assistant Director level and 3-5 years at the Associate Director level. A proven record of soliciting and closing annual cash gifts of $10,000-$25,000 at the Assistant Director level and $25,000 or more at the Associate Director level, preferably in a higher education environment, is required. Determination of job level and compensation will be commensurate with experience. Travel and some evenings and weekend work is required to be successful. A valid driver’s license is required. A demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition is expected. Proficiency with technology and relevant software applications, such as Google mail (Gmail), MSWord, MS Excel, and PowerPoint is expected.
