Position Overview: Purdue University Athletics Department is looking for a dynamic and passionate leader for the newly created, Director, NIL Engagement. This position will report to the Chief Executive Officer and work closely with Purdue Athletics leadership on all NIL related topics. In addition, they will build relationships with business leaders, corporate partners, donors, and all external constituents interested in NIL opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director will serve as the liaison for NIL external engagement for the department with a focus on outbound engagement
Build relationships with external constituents, including but not limited to: business leaders, donors, and corporate partners
Collaborate with Purdue Athletics externally facing staff on external engagement initiatives (e.g., working with the John Purdue Club when connecting with 1869 Society Members).
Develop and execute an actionable CRM strategy utilizing Salesforce
Understand student-athlete interests (e.g., what NIL opportunities they are interested in, what internship opportunities they are interested in) and connect with external constituents and educate them on how they can engage with student-athletes via the Boilermaker Marketplace.
Explore, research and identify new opportunities for Purdue Athletics in the changing landscape of NIL
Development and maintain business opportunities for the Boilermaker Marketplace with various stakeholders (e.g., JPC Members, Alumni Networks, 1869, Chamber of Commerce, Local Community)
Development and maintain business opportunities related to group licensing with various stakeholders (e.g., Purdue Athletics retail partner, licensees, sponsors/corporate partners)
Collaborate with Student-Athlete Development and Athletics Compliance with the development, presentation and communication of new strategies, procedures and processes
Develop reports and dashboards regarding external engagement and education
Stay informed and up to date on the latest NIL trends and best practices.
•Provide recommendations to leadership on opportunities and initiatives to continue to enhance NIL programming
•Other responsibilities as assigned
Required Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum of 4 years of sport business or sales experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Sport Management/Marketing is preferred but not required
Experience with INFLCR+ Local Exchange marketplace or Salesforce preferred but not required
Local and regional travel required, some national travel
Must be able to communicate well with a wide variety of individuals and organizations
Self-motivated and capable of managing and appropriately prioritizing a variety of requests while successfully delivering on weekly tasks
Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and listening skills.
Possess attention to detail, ability to remain calm under pressure, and ability to demonstrate leadership skills. Must be able to problem-solve and make decisions quickly and with knowledge and authority
Ability to work well with others and confidence when taking initiative
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Tools (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and detail oriented
Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills.
