Job Summary
The Event Manager is responsible for the overall operation and management of the Houston Field House. The Event Manager works with the Director of Marketing and Promotions to develop and implement strategies related to revenue generation, increasing attendance, enhancing campus spirit, the fan experience, and community relations, and augmenting the visibility of the Institute. The event manager also works with the Director, Athletics Facilities & Operations on the day-to-day scheduling, contracting, and maintenance of the Houston Field House.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field 3 or more years experience in an athletic venue(s) and managing and analyzing event budgets
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of arena operations including game operations, booking and internal coordination of stakeholders Demonstrated knowledge of facility and event management Ability to develop strategies and events to generate revenue and create promotional opportunities Demonstrated knowledge of ticketing systems, and box office operations Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Ability to work independently or in a team setting Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
