Smithsonian Theaters seeks an experienced Ticket Sales System Administrator who will be responsible for managing the Theater ticket systems, as well as maintain and analyze the corresponding data, for use in theaters and concessions group sales process, provided by third parties. This includes the support of Point of Sale ticket systems, procurement, programming, documentation, reporting (including database management) and training. Additionally, they will represent the theater on customer service issues related to ticketing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to the following:
Perform regular maintenance and ongoing software programming of retail’s mission critical ticket sales systems. Programming includes:
Theater schedules
Pricing
Non-ticketed sales
Group packaging
Simulator outlet sales
Food and beverage voucher sales
Contracted specialized ticketing services for non- retail units
Documents and implements a “train the trainer” supervisors program.
Creates, maintains, and updates materials and programs as needed.
Maintains manual ticketing backup system.
Maintains and provides necessary scheduled and ad hoc reports.
Performs periodic Ticket Sales Systems Skills Assessments to insure management knowledge of the Sales Systems and Cash Office Operations is retained at the necessary level.
Ensures positive and cooperative relations with internal and external departments and vendors through ongoing dialogue and timely completion of required deliverables, including acting as primary vendor contact on all inquiries related to reporting.
Works with theater and marketing staff on new and existing projects, as assigned by Supervisor and if applicable ensures proper implementation.
Creates and maintains a searchable database of past, current, and upcoming film/digital product releases, including fact sheets and exhibition/performance data on each title.
Assists the Reservations and Group Sales Center in all aspects of advance individual and group sales.
Education and Experience: To qualify for this position, applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree; and least 5 years of related experience (described below); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience required for this position is as follows:
Ability to translate complex technical training needs into user friendly manual formats and audit employee performance based on the evaluation of technical skill level.
In depth knowledge of POS ticketing software used in theatrical ticketed venues, with a preference towards experience in organizations with diverse and multiple venues. Skills in managing, supervising and training personnel, along with the ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
Able to plan, organize and use time effectively.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Must possess superior vendor and customer relation skills.
Knowledge of ProVenue preferred.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in order to meet the demands of the theaters 364 day per-year schedule and extensive schedule of special events.
This position requires travel between Smithsonian Theaters’ locations in Washington, D.C, and Chantilly, Virginia.
Salary: Up to $70,000, commensurate with experience.
