ROLE of the POSITION
The Senior Associate Athletics Director for Business & Finance oversees the budget, fiscal management, and business operations of UNLV Athletics. This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President, Financial Services & Controller, with a dotted-line relationship to the Director of Athletics, and serves on the athletics department executive leadership team with shared responsibility for financial decision-making.
Working closely with the Director of Athletics, UNLV CFO, and UNLV Controller, the Senior Associate Athletics Director plans, monitors, and manages both long-term and day-to-day financial activities. This includes ensuring that senior management, coaches, and unit supervisors are informed of the department’s financial status. The role also ensures that all financial and accounting functions align with university policies and standards, proactively mitigates audit risks, and maintains compliance. Additionally, the incumbent is expected to drive continuous process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and uphold sound business practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management or related field and 5-7 years of related professional work experience that includes progressively responsible experience in the areas of financial accounting and reporting, cash management and budgeting finance and administration or related; OR master’s degree in accounting, business management or related field and 3-5 year related professional work experience that includes progressively responsible experience in the areas of financial accounting and reporting, cash management and budgeting finance and administration or related from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
